Public lighting has been restored to Kingscourt following Church Street and Dublin Street in the town being left in the dark for three weeks.
Local councillor and resident in the town Clifford Kelly called for the situation to be resolved immediately on the Wider View programme earlier today. He said that remedial works have been underway during this time on the lighting in the town resulting in no public lighting for over 3 weeks.
Cllr Kelly said it was a major road safety concern and it needed to be dealt with.
In a statement issued from ESB Networks to Northern Sound this evening. A local ESB Networks crew visited the fault site earlier today, following notification from Cavan County Council earlier in the week. On initial investigation, supply to the public lighting appeared to have been interrupted during high winds associated with Storm Isha. Once ESB Networks became aware of the issue, they mobilised and understand the connection to the public lighting is functioning once again. The ESB have apologise for the inconvenience caused.
