The Met Éireann forecast for the Northern Sound region warns of temperatures struggling to get above freezing today. Therefore, potential issues include hazardous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot.
The status yellow weather warning for Cavan and Monaghan was updated by Met Éireann at 9:30 this morning. The yellow warning here follows that for the rest of the country and is valid from yesterday evening through to midnight on Friday.
Counties Cork, Limerick and Tipperary are mong the worst affected counties and the ESB say 41 thousand of their customers are without power at present. No power outages are reported in this region, and it should be noted that Met Éireann defines a Status Yellow warning as weather that is "not unusual" at the time of year but, may pose "localised danger".
