The latest review into the North-South Interconnector could be completed by early summer.
Speaking at a recent Oireachtas Committee, Environment Minister Eamon Ryan confirmed that the terms of reference are being finalised.
The review into the contentious cross-border powerline was first confirmed to local Senator Robbie Gallagher by Taoiseach Michéal Martin last month.
Campaign groups against the construction of pylons and local politicians have previously stated that the terms of reference and review must be meaningful, and can't become a box-ticking exercise.
Minister Eamon Ryan says he wants it to be a swift process:
