The debating team from Largy College in Clones were crowned the all-Ireland Concern Schools debating winners last night.
The County Monaghan School came up against The High School in Rathgar in the national competition which took place last night at the Helix in Dublin.
It was a case of three times lucky as it was the third time that Largy won the national debating competition since the competition was set up in 1980s.
Well-known past participants of the contest include Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe, RTÉ broadcaster Claire Byrne and Virgin Media presenter Karen Koster.
Amy-Jo Kierans and Katie McCaffery from Aghabog, Aoibheann McLoughlin from Clones and Deirdre Smith from Newbliss were delighted to bring the national accolade back to Clones.
"All the hard work has paid off," said Largy's team captain Amy-Jo, who is also a successful athlete who represents Ireland and is a medal hopeful at this summer's European Youth Olympic Festival in Slovenia. Team Teacher and mentor with Largy College Sacha Comiskey says its a great achievement for the school.
