Large crowds attended a sheep farmers protest in Roscommon earlier over what they believe is a growing crisis in the sector.
The demonstration was organised by the Irish Farmers Association and focused on income concerns in the industry.
IFA President Tim Cullinan said the latest price cut has angered sheep farmers who are grappling with very severe input costs. The National Sheep Chairman Kevin Comiskey said it's time for the Agricultural Minister to listen to small sheep farmers. A Cavan farmer that attended the protest said the way things stand there is no future in the sector. Speaking at the protest Cavan farmer Laura McCabe says action is needed to make the future of farming sustainable. .
