A member of Laragh Community Alert in County Cavan has called for car registrations to be printed on takeaway food packaging to enable litterers to be tracked down.
Eugene Smith says a QR code, which is a barcode that contains information about the item it is attached to, could be used for this purpose.
He says the time of purchase and information about the buyer could be put into the QR code.
However, Eugene acknowledged that the plan could run afoul of GDPR concerns.
