Uisce Ireland is to acquire three pockets of land totalling 1.3 acres to make way for upgrade works on the Virginia Waste Water Plant.

Uisce Ireland is to acquire land by way of compulsory purchase orders to make way for the Virginia Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade. The three pockets of land in question total 1.3 acres.

The owner of one plot of 0.48 hectares is unknown but, two plots totalling 1.67 acres is believed to be part of the Headfort Estate of Mr Ronan Matthews. The acquisition of the lands is required to facilitate construction of the Virginia Wastewater Treatment Plant and its associated pumping station.

In a statement, Uisce Ireland said "reasons for a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) can often be due lack of good title or ownership. In this instance the CPO is to address title issues. As for compensation, Uisce Éireann cannot disclose this information due to commercial reasons," the statement concludes.
