Lakeland Dairies and Glanbia have announced they are to hold their May milk price.
The decision has been welcomed by the IFA, who say that it must signal the beginning of improved return for farmers.
The pandemic put a strain on the dairy markets as the shutdown of the food industry over that time led to an oversupply, seeing prices drop to 2016 levels.
However, the base price will remain at 29c per litre for all milk suppliers this month, with Lakeland Dairies stating that some stability appears to be returning to the market.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound the IFA National Dairy Committee Chairman Tom Phelan said while price stability is welcome, farmers will be expecting better news in the weeks ahead.
