Each awardee will receive a bursary of €2,000.

The bursaries are available to the children of Lakeland Dairies' 3,200 farm families as well as the co-op staff.

The Bailieborough-based business applied to Cavan County Council for extensions to their milk intake area. 

The two hectares of ground are being planted using native tree varieties including oak and birch.

The flavoured milks will come along with Happy Meals.

The winner of the Young Farmer competition will be announced at a ceremony to mark the Lakeland Dairies’ Milk Quality Awards on 19th June.

A large contingent of county and regional delegates from across the country, members of the Macra na Feirme national staff, national officers and presidential team will be in attendance.
