With just over two weeks to go until the return to school begins the issue of school buses raises its head once again.
Senator Robbie Gallagher is highlighting the lack of urgency when it comes to offering tenders to coach operators to ensure school buses are operational.
He says this will be of major concerns to many local parents with so little time left.
The Monaghan senator confirmed that there is a number of coach operators in Cavan and Monaghan that have not received tenders for some routes as of yet. Currently, Bus Éireann does not permit people over the age of 70 to become a drivers on the school transport scheme. This is another major concern raised by Senator Gallagher. He says these companies are being left in the dark when it comes to the issuing of tenders for the year ahead.
