A member of Save West Cavan says a lot of people across the country have now seen first-hand how forestry can impact on power following a storm.
Francis Cassidy who still has no electricity 14 days on from Storm Eowyn says the group have been highlighting the unsustainable practices by forestry owners for decades. He says it solely comes back to the lack of maintenance.
Francis says that the scale of the damage that has been caused by Storm Éowyn is immense especially in West Cavan.
The member of Save West Cavan says the blame does not just sit with forestry owners, he says the ESB should have been more proactive prior to events like this when it comes to forestry hampering lines.
