Knife seizures across Cavan and Monaghan trebled between 2017 and 2020.
63 knives were seized by gardaí in 2020, compared to 21 in 2017.
166 knives were confiscated by gardaí in the Cavan-Monaghan Division between 2017 and 2020.
Nationwide, 2,248 knives were confiscated by gardaí last year, up from 2,143 in 2019.
As of August 16th of this year, 22 knives have been seized in Cavan-Monaghan, and 1,143 nationwide.
Gardaí have extended power of search without warrant for knives and offensive weapons and the Department of Justice says it will review existing Garda powers to ensure they have the necessary legal tools to protect communities.
The figures were provided on foot of a Parliamentary Question by Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond, who says "early intervention schemes, employment, training opportunities, knife amnesties and youth diversion programmes are all key" to tackling this.
