On announcing his shock resignation as Liverpool FC Manager, Jurgen Klopp, made special mention of Monaghan mega-fan, Daire Gorman. The soccer world has been left reeling since Klopp made the unexpected announcement of his departure this morning. In the midst of the media storm, however, the much-loved boss had a message for Daire, who Klopp referred to as "our friend". The manager said he felt he had to personally explain to Daire why he was leaving before adding "and I will".
Daire Gorman from Tonniscoffey was invited to Anfield and got to spend time with Jurgen Klopp recently. The 12-year-old came to the manager's attention when a video of him getting emotional at Anfield as the crowd belted out the club's anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone", went viral.
It is not known how Daire has taken the news of Klopp's departure but, the manager let it be known he hasn't forgotten the fan from Monaghan. "Only recently we met Daire, our friend," Jurgen Klopp said, "I probably have to explain it to him as well and I will, that's no problem. I really will try to do these things but, for now, that's it."
