A Kingscourt man has revealed that he has had a successful and life changing kidney transplant.
David Crosby is very much a fighter as he certainly has had to be over the years.
Resilience is very much to the fore for this local man who underwent a double lung transplant in 2016. The father of three said that as a result of the successful transplant surgery, he was able to complete three marathons soon after before contracting Covid-19 in 2021
Life was looking great for the father of three until he contracted Covid 19 and ended up with another major fight on his hands, again for his survival. David ended up staying in hospital for 66 days and during that time, his medical team were not sure if he would survive. He says saying 'goodbye' to his family from a hospital bed was the "most difficult" thing he has ever had to do.
He was in a coma for three weeks at the time and then on his journey to recovery he then had to receive dialysis three times a week in Cavan General Hospital. David revealed on today's Wider View programme that his journey so far has been a roller-coaster adding that he had a successful transplant in recent months.
