A priest of the Diocese of Kilmore has recently been appointed to the role of Monsignor.
Fr Enda Murphy, a native of Derrylin in Co.Fermanagh, was made a domestic chaplain to Pope Francis.
The honour is in recognition of his work in the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in Rome as Capo Ufficio as well as his manner of dealing with others who work with him.
Monsignor Murphy studied at Queen's University Belfast, the Gregorian University in Rome and at the Pontifical Athenaeum of St Anselm in Rome, where he received his doctorate in Liturgy.
He served for a number of years in the parish of Laragh before being appointed as Director of Pastoral Development and Adult Faith Development for the Diocese of Kilmore in 2013.
In a statement to Northern Sound, the Diocese of Kilmore congratulated Monsignor Murphy on his new appointment and have thanked him for his service to the region.
