The Killyconny Bog is nominated for one of Europe’s top environmental awards.
The bog, which is in Mullagh in Cavan and border Meath, is part of The Living Bog Project which started in 2016, and aims to restore 12 raised bogs across 7 counties.
A high level jury will decide on the winners in the Natura 2000 Awards out of 27 entries, with a public vote also deciding the European Citizens Award.
Voting is open now on the European Commission website and closes on the 15th of September.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound Áine Farrelly from the project encouraged everyone to help them by voting:
