"Keep shopping activities as local as possible this Christmas."
That's the advice of Therese Conway, who is the manager of Cavan Credit Union.
According to Therese, the weeks in the run up to Christmas are the busiest time of year for many local businesses.
While Therese understands that many households will feel the financial pinch this Christmas, she believes it's important for businesses to do all they can in guaranteeing value to the local consumer.
In addition to this Cavan Credit Union will be offering a low rate winter fuel loan for members who are struggling.
Therese revealed, "Rather than paying the price of a full tank of fuel tank, customers can take out a loan and pay it down over a 12 month period. We wanted to help in anyway we could and we felt this was a solution - It's our community responsibility."
Meanwhile, according to Therese, nothing brings back business like good customer service and businesses across Cavan reflect that.
She added that there is a "strong sense of community" in the lead-up to Christmas this year, and that people are "conscious" that where they spend their money matters when it comes to the local economy and employability:
