A County Cavan Councillor has called on the Justice Minister to do more to insure that streets in towns in villages are safe.
Cllr John Paul Feeley said that there is not enough Gardai and a more visible presence from Gardai is needed on our streets across the country. He said that people living in urban or rural areas need to feel safe and this is not the case at the moment.
In all 7 vehicles were damaged by fire including 3 buses, 3 Garda patrol cars and a Luas tram during the riots in Dublin. 8 other Garda vehicles were extensively damaged while 13 properties were attacked causing extensive damage.
A number of Gardaí were also injured during the course of the rioting, Cllr Feeley was in Dublin yesterday and he described is a menacing feeling and he said it's not the type of advertising we need on the world stage for encouraging people to visit our country
