The Justice Minister has asked that a permanent District Court judge be appointed to the Cavan-Monaghan area.
It comes after the death of Judge Denis McLoughlin in September, leaving a vacancy.
At a recent Cabinet meeting, Minister Helen McEntee said that Cavan-Monaghan was a busy district, and it was important that a permanent judge be brought in as soon as possible to help the efficient administration of justice in the area.
Minister McEntee requested that the Government assign a sitting judge to the district with immediate effect.
