The cold snap kicked in with a vengeance across the country overnight .... and there's more on the way. A nationwide status yellow alert for 'low temperatures and ice' continues until 10am this morning.
But up to five centimetres of snow could fall tonight - especially in Munster - while another low temperature warning comes into force for the entire country from 8 o'clock tonight until Thursday morning.
Met Eireann Forecaster Aoife Kealy says road conditions and paths are quite icy this morning: "Really, it'#s nationwide," she said, "particularly inland areas will get quite cold, we're likely to get temperatures going down to minus four degrees tonight so, very cold. Temperatures, really widely, getting below freezing and the daytime temperatures are going to struggle to get five or six degrees through today and tomorrow so, generally it's just going to feel Baltic out there," the meteorologist said.
