Monaghan's newest world champion is aiming to get his tour card and turn professional.
Shane McGuirk from Aughnamullen became the WDF World Darts Champion last night.
He beat darts legend, Paul Lim, six-three at the iconic Lakeside.
Lim remains the only player to have hit a 9-dart leg at the iconic venue, making Shane's win incredibly significant.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Shane said he never expected to win and he's proud of how he handled the pressure
"It's just about how you handle it and handle the situation you're in. I felt like I handled it well last night. I don't know how I did because there were a lot of nerves going into the game but I was delighted to come out as the victor and once again, I am a world champion, and that's never going to be taken away from me".
