The ISPCA is appealing for information following the discovery of a kitten in the Cavan Burren.
The Calico kitten was found in an isolated car park and had injuries so severe that an emergency surgery was performed and one of her back legs had to be amputated.
The kitten, named “Burren” by rescuers, is now in a foster home recuperating from her ordeal.
Inspector Elaine Reynolds said it’s unclear how the kitten came to be in this position as it’s a remote location and there are no houses in the vicinity.
She says Burren is no more than eight weeks old and could not have travelled too far by herself due to her injuries.
Although injured and frightened, Inspector Reynolds says Burren is very friendly and use to human contact.
She thanked the member of the public who heard the kitten’s cry for help and raised the alarm.
