The Irish Coast Guard was called to an agricultural accident at Swellan, Co Cavan, yesterday afternoon.
Cavan Town Fire Brigade also took part in the multi-agency operation.
Paramedics from the Ambulance Service extricated the victim from beneath a tractor, before the Coast Guard's Rescue 116 helicopter transported the casualty to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
In a statement to Northern Sound, the HSA confirmed that it is aware of this incident and an investigation is underway.
Local councillor John Paul Feely thanked all the emergency services involved in the incident and extended his best wishes to the victim.
