The government is planning on creating a portal that will allow Irish citizens who have been vaccinated outside of the European Union to obtain the EU Digital Covid Certificate.
Local TD Brendan Smith says the Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly, has informed him of the move.
Some Irish residents living in border areas have faced difficulties in obtaining an EU cert if vaccinated in the North.
In response to a Parliamentary Question from Brendan Smith, the Health Minister said the "portal is currently being advanced on a cross departmental basis, involving technical and process development".
He added that "an announcement on the launch of this portal will be made shortly".
The EU Digital Covid Cert was adopted by Ireland in July, and plans to make it available to most Irish passport holders who live in the North have been delayed.
