The Auxiliary Bishop of the Arch Diocese of Armagh says he would welcome an inquiry into the reasons nursing homes were so badly affected by Covid 19.
Auxiliary Bishop Michael Router, originally from Virginia in Cavan, says questions need to be answered after it emerged over 1,000 of the deaths that have occurred due to the virus have been in residential care facilities, including 69 across this region.

The Irish Catholic Bishops have called for the investigation to be carried out to avoid a repeat should there be a resurgence of Covid 19 in the future.

Auxiliary Bishop Router says that nursing homes should never have to compete with acute hospitals for equipment or PPE and such an inquiry should examine the planning prior to the outbreak.
