Climate Scientist and founder of Ireland's Weather Channel, Cathal Nolan, says temperatures next week could go as low as minus 12 degrees:

Trusted weather-watcher, Cathal Nolan, said "Darragh" is expected to hit Ireland tomorrow night and last into Saturday bringing heavy rainfall and very strong winds.

The icy weather is expected to last through much of the week after a mild start to the month.

There could be slippery paths and cycleways due to an ice warning for the country.

Two to five centimetres of snowfall is expected and therefore, some disruption may be inevitable.

A weather forecaster is hopeful the Northern Sound region will miss most of the storm's impact.

A status yellow fog warning will remain in place until 11am.

Although winds will weaken as storm Agnes approaches the border region, locals are advised that strong winds are still expected to cause disruption.
