Cavan County Council says graffiti sprayed on road signs in parts of Cavan is "under investigation".
Graffiti saying "Continuity IRA" or "CIRA" has appeared on road signs and other posts over recent months in parts of Cavan, including close to Castle Saunderson and the border with Fermanagh.
In a statement to Northern Sound News Cavan County Council says while it has not received any complaints about the issue, it is aware of the graffiti.
It says "the matter is under investigation".
It follows the publication of photos of masked men, purporting to be members of the Continuity IRA, patrolling areas close to the Cavan-Fermanagh border.
The photos, which were published in May, show men armed with guns on roads in the Wattlebridge area.
