Locals across the region are advised to be extra vigilant in the lead-up to Christmas in order to prevent criminals from targeting households. The advice comes after Gardaí in Monaghan renewed appeals in relation to two separate break-ins. Gardaí are currently investigating the break-in to a home at Killyconnigan, in Monaghan Town. The incident occurred sometime between 5pm on Friday December 1st and 3pm on Saturday the 2nd of December when thieves forced a rear window of a property. A number of items of jewellery were taken.
According to Gardaí, it is most likely that this incident happened on the Friday evening during the hours of darkness. Gardaí in Monaghan are appealing to anyone with information or who noticed anything suspicious t contact them. Elsewhere, Gardaí are also investigation the break-in to a home in the Lakeview area of Castleblayney. This incident occurred on Wednesday evening the 8th of November at approximately 8:15pm.
That evening three males were seen leaving the scene on foot. One was described as heavy build and the other two males were of lighter build. The men ran from the scene in the direction of a nearby apartment block. Some of the property stolen was recovered afterwards after being discarded in the Hackballscross area of Co Louth.
