An investigation is underway into the alleged rape of a female member of the Defence Forces in Dublin.
It’s alleged to have happened at a hotel being used for mandatory hotel quarantine earlier this week.
Gardaí confirmed they are investigating an allegation of an assault at a south city centre hotel.
It’s understood a female member of the Defence Forces has reported being sexually assaulted at a hotel being used for mandatory hotel quarantine on Monday night.
Gardaí say their investigations are ongoing.
The Defence Forces have also issued a brief statement.
They said: "Óglaigh na hÉireann are aware of an alleged incident that recently took place in a hotel that is currently in use for the purpose of Mandatory Hotel Quarantine.
"As the matter is the subject of an ongoing Garda investigation, it is inappropriate and not possible for us to comment any further."
