Gardaí are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in Monaghan town.
Local Gardai made the discovery at a residence in town centre yesterday evening.
A spokesperson from An Garda Siochana confirmed to Northern Sound News the body is that of a male.
The man's body was removed from the scene and the coroner has been notified.
Monaghan Gardai say a post-mortem will take place at a later date, the outcome of which will determine the course of the investigation.

It's a very sad today here in Monaghan Town, hearing the news of the discovery in the centre of the town. I want to offer my condolences to this man's family and friends, I believe that a post mortem will take place in the coming days and I hope that there is no foul play involved and that this just a tragedy.
The post mortem results will determine the gardai investigation following the results being completed.
