A new Intreo centre for Monaghan has officially opened its doors today.
Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, opened the Department's new centre in Carrickmacross this morning. The Intreo facility will serve as a 'one-stop-shop' - building on the services that were previously provided by the Social Welfare Branch Office in Carrickmacross. Jobseeker and other Income Supports, Community Welfare Services, and Employment Services will be available in the centre.
Speaking to Northern Sound after the launch this morning, Minister Humphreys says new the Intreo centre will provide essential services to the area.
"What's happening today is that the office in Carrickmacross, which was a branch office, that now becomes part of the social protection system and it becomes an Intreo office. We're able to expand the services there. I'm delighted that the staff there will move over to social protection. For the man or woman on the street, it's business as usual except that we're going to be able to invest further in the services there and we're going to be able to provide more services".
