A Monaghan artisan food producer says increased food prices is threatening the industry.
The IFA warned this week that there could be fresh fruit and vegetable shortages later this year as farmers chose to reduce their outputs to save
money.
Produce that is harvested is expected to rise as a consequence.
This has a knock-on impact on companies like Pollock's Pickles that use locally sourced produce for their preserves and chutneys.
Glynnes Pollock told Shannonside Northern Sound that every part of production is now costing more.
"There has been a huge increase in diesel gas and electricity prices," she continued.
"But jars, labels, fruit and even sugar has gone up by at lest 20%.
"Since we started the business we have tried to keep our prices the same.
"But when you start to see a 20% increase, you have to take stock"
