The Emergency Department at Cavan General Hospital is in escalation this morning. That means, an increased number of patients have presented to A & E. The latest figures from the INMO's Trolley Watch showed there were 23 patients awaiting treatment on trolleys in Cavan General ED this morning.
A statement from the HSE says some of those presentations include a notable rise in flu-related cases. Management wish to advise local people there are significant delays and limited bed capacity in Cavan General at present.
Patients are asked to seek alternatives to an Emergency Department referral where possible for now. However, staff are still providing emergency care if it's required.
