Traffic wardens will have an increased presence in Carrickmacross and Castleblayney from next week.
At a recent MD meeting, it was confirmed that a roster is being drawn up to help enforce parking restrictions in the two towns.
Local Gardai have also been informed of the move and will be working to monitor that parking in the main street areas is for a maximum of two hours.
A number of councillors said it was brought to their attention that employees were using on-street parking, which was preventing customers from using the spaces.
It was said the time limit is reasonable, and the idea of pay-parking shouldn’t be entertained as an alternative.
The councillors agreed to liaise with local businesses to inform of them of the change.
