A Local councillor says the second increase in 6 months to toll charges is a major blow to commuters especially ones travelling from this region.
Tolls are set to increase again from January following an increase back in July of this year.
Car journeys on the M50 and eight national toll roads including the M3 are to increase by 20 cent, while larger vehicles will be charged between 20 and 50 cent extra. Cllr Sarah O Reilly says that the tolls are a cash cow for the government and will turn people off taking to the motorways and push people to use the back roads.
The Co Cavan Councillor says when the region doesn't have a fully functioning bus service, this announcement is a further burden and unfair on motorists.
