Crime figures in relation to burglaries have increased from last year across County Monaghan.
121 burglaries were recorded by local Gardaí for 2022, as opposed to 99 incidents back in 2021.
Superintendent Pat O'Connell described the crimes as "opportunist" at a yesterday's sitting of the County Monaghan Joint Policing Committee.
As a result of the rise in figures, Superintendent O'Connell has urged members of the public to "remain vigilant" and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
He added that majority of perpetrators who are committing such offences are "travelling criminals" therefore it is important to take down the registration of any suspicious vehicles in which members of the public may encounter.
