It is hoped that improvement works near St.Tiernach's Park will make match days safer and more accessible.
There is currently a bottleneck on the road and pathway outside which are said to be too narrow given the level of use and footfall, particularly when a game is being held.
The council is set to receive €500,000 for the widening of both the footpath and road to allow for greater capacity.
Members of the MD have been in regular consultation with the GAA, and Gardai working on this project to ensure that it becomes safer for all.
During his incoming speech as new Cathaoirleach of the Ballybay-Clones MD, Seamus Coyle welcomed this stating, a key priority for him was to maintain the use of the park for the Ulster final, as well as ensuring it was as safe and enjoyable for all attendees.
