Members of Shercock Tidy Towns are appealing to residents to report any instances of illegal dumping to Cavan County Council.
It follows four separate such incidents in the town over a number of weeks.
The group believes it is due to a small number of serial dumpers, striking this week at the Shercock Recycling Centre, and another individual has also dumped rubbish on Fair Green.
Shercock Tidy Towns, Carol Smyth says the group remains determined to stamp out this unacceptable behaviour in the community. She highlighted that to further their efforts, they are advocating for the installation of CCTV cameras at the Shercock Recycling Centre to deter illegal dumping.
Carol says the mission of the voluntary group is to enhance, revive and restore some pride in the Co Cavan town. The Shercock resident said even though they are disappointed by this illegal dumping of household waste, they are determined at making Shercock a great town to live, work and visit for years to come.
