The ICSA Animal Health Chair says greater testing of badgers for TB is required in the fight against the disease.
The Department of Agriculture is seeking the assistance of farmers in mapping badger setts, but Cavan farmer Hugh Farrell says we need to know if these badgers have TB or not.
Currently, only a small number of badgers are tested and a national prevalence rate is estimated from this testing.
But Mr Farrell says wide-spread testing is needed and he's also criticised the Department's limiting of badger culling in favour of a vaccination programme.
The ICSA Animal Health Chair told Shannonside Northern Sound that while he welcomes the mapping programme, "testing is the big thing":
