Grain will be in short supply by the end of the year due to the war in Ukraine.
That's according to Lorcan McCabe, a Bailieborough farmer who is the Deputy-President of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association.
The invasion of Ukraine has sparked fears about food security in Europe, as both it and Russia are major exporters.
The Agriculture Minister, Charlie McConalogue, is due to meet with farming organisations tomorrow, where he will ask farmers to plant more grains.
Minister McConalogue is also setting up an emergency response team within his department to respond to the 'rapidly evolving situation.'
