Monaghan has been found to be "cleaner than European norms" while Cavan Town, which came in in 17th place is listed as "clean to European norms".

Chair of Monaghan Tidy Towns, Eimear Brennan, told Shannonside Northern Sound that there is "a marked improvement".

Naas in Kildare is Ireland's cleanest town, while Dublin's North Inner City is a litter blackspot.

The town is now classed as 'moderately littered'.

In Cavan the White Star area was given a D rating despite the local tidy towns group carry out work there.
