A Cavan-based family are distraught following the disappearance of their daughter while on holiday in Disney Land Paris last month. 17 year old Amber Victoria Palm was on holidays with her parents and younger brother before she went missing on August 7th, the final day of their family trip.
She's believed to be with a male, also aged 17, who friends say she had been talking to online for a number of weeks previous to her disappearance.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Amber Victoria's mother Mactalene said that someone, somewhere knows where her daughter is.
"Me and my husband decided we were going to surprise the kids and take them to Disney Land. We got there on the 4th of August and were supposed to come back on the 7th, but that morning at 3am my husband felt unwell. He went to go to the bathroom and came back to bed, I woke up and asked was he ok, he said he needed to go to the bathroom again but he believed Amber was in there, I then got up to knock on the door of the bathroom, there was no answer and when I opened the door she was gone."
Mactalene went on to explain that the family searched their hotel and a nearby petrol station in the hope of finding Amber, however when they went to the police station to report Amber as missing, CCTV footage later emerged from the hotel gates showing Amber walking out of the hotel with a bag on her back and meeting a male at the gate.
Mactalene also highlighted how her 17 year old daughter had been in contact with friends, however no further contact has been made by Amber since August 10th. "The authorities in Ireland have been helpful, someone, somewhere must know where my daughter is," she explained. "It's totally out of character for Amber, she was in contact with her friends but from the 10th of August there's been nothing. I don't know what has happened to my baby. Her brother is missing his sister, he is in tears constantly, they had a very good relationship, we all did, we had fun in Disney Land and we're a very close family. I just want to know that she's safe and I want her home. As a parent, you just don't know what to think."
