Remote working arrangements are playing a factor in increasing house prices across the region.
That's the view of Carrickmacross based auctioneer, Dermot Conlon. The latest Real Estate Alliance report for Quarter 3 shows the average price of a three-bed semi detached in Monaghan is now €232,000, up 3.1% on Quarter 2. While in Cavan, the average price of the same home is €187,500 up 1.4%. Dermot Conlon of REA Gunne Property in Carrickmacross, says counties like Cavan, Monaghan, and Louth are attractive to hybrid workers who don't want to buy in Dublin.
"Places like Monaghan are within a 50 mile radius of Dublin. People like that, who work remotely, can now work from home and commute maybe one or two days a week, which makes it a viable proposition. So, that is impacting on counties Meath, Louth, and Monaghan where these people can now purchase a house in these areas and avail of the lower market prices as opposed to having to buy in Dublin".
