Officials in Florida say two people have been killed as Hurricane Milton has now made landfall. The storm - which has now been downgraded to Category 1 - has brought winds of over 190 kilometres per hour.
US President Joe Biden warns it could be "one of the most destructive" in the state in over a century. It's understood around 2 million homes and businesses are now without power.
Meteorologist Dr. Athena Masson describes some of the damage that has already been caused by the storm: "We are seeing some damage especially in the Tampa area," the expert said, "We had a crane that fell down that was not supported very well. We also have a rooftop from a stadium that was going to be used as a shelter for emergency personnel. That roof has sionce blown off."
