Over the Friday night and Saturday morning following Storm Darragh the 10 Fire Brigades in County Cavan dealt with a total of 93 incidents involving trees down which in turn blocked roads.
While the fire service in Monaghan dealt with up on 60 call outs that involved up on 100 fallen trees. One fire brigade in Cavan attended a domestic fire incident near Virginia, another attended following hoarding coming down on Market street in Cootehill.
The local fire service attended a flooding incident in Killeshandra, a collision involving a car and tree in Kingscourt and another collision near Kilcogy. Call outs to electrical wires down, the Ballyjamesduff fire brigade was also called to following a tree that fell on the side of a house and damaged an oil tank.
16 trees fell in Kingscourt, 10 fell in Virginia, 5 trees fell in Ballyjamesduff, in Dowra 5 trees were down while on one local road up to 30 plus trees fell down in that area. Ballyconnell seen 18 trees down, 12 trees were down in Killeshandra, 9 came down in Belturbet, the same number in Cavan Town, while 5 fell in Cootehill and 4 also fell in Bailieboro.
In Monaghan 43 road closures occurred across the county due to fallen trees across the three municipal districts. The Monaghan Town Municipal district area was the worst affected by fallen trees in the county following Storm Darragh that seen thousands of homes across Cavan and Monaghan without electricity and water.
