Hundreds of people gathered in Mountbolus in Co Offaly last night to remember Ashling Murphy. The first anniversary Mass for the 23-year-old teacher was held at St Brigid's Church yesterday.
Over 400 people attended the event to remember Ms Murphy, on the first anniversary of her death. The Mass featured music from a traditional group, which Ashling was once a member of.
The ceremony followed a vigil that took place at the Grand Canal in Tullamore yesterday, which was attended by over 100 people. It was there that the 23-year-old primary teacher was killed, while out for a run.
A man has been charged in relation to Ms Murphy’s death and the matter is before the courts.
