314 people across Cavan and Monaghan are awaiting home care support according to local TD Deputy Pauline Tully. The Cavan Monaghan TD has called on the government to put a plan in place to fix the home care crisis for people in the region.
The Sinn Féin TD reported that the main issue was due to the shortage of home care support staff. She added that as of July there were 314 people across Cavan-Monaghan approved for but still awaiting home support.
Deputy Pauline Tully said this is pushing vulnerable people into hospitals and nursing homes when they should be cared for in their own home. The local TD concluded by saying that we need to ensure that vulnerable people who are in need of support can stay in their own home and receive the care they need.
