30 sports and community projects in Cavan and Monaghan are to get a share of €1.3 million announced by the Department of Rural Affairs for this region. The funding will develop sports and outdoor facilities such as playgrounds, astro-turf pitches, running tracks and spectator stands.
Minister for Rural Affairs and local TD, Heather Humphreys, said her department focused on supporting schools by investing in outdoor play areas for our children, as well as car park facilities for parents and teachers. Community Centres and Local Halls will also be upgraded and given a new lease life.
Among the projects being funded is St Patrick's GAA in Arva who are to receive €50,000 to develop a fully-inclusive and wheelchair accessible spectator stand with a sheltered space. Ballybay Town Team also received just over €39,000 for the the development of the Ballybay Park Teenage Hangout Area.
