Sports clubs, community groups, parish halls and schools groups in the Northern Sound region are being urged to take advantage of a new tranche of funding available under the CLÁR scheme.
Minister for Rural Affairs and Cavan-Monaghan TD, Heather Humphreys, contacted Northern Sound to say that her department has released €8.7m into the CLÁR scheme today. CLÁR is funding for small-scale rural projects in rural areas that have suffered the greatest levels of population decline. There is no specific allocation for counties Cavan and Monaghan out of the significant national funding pot, so the Minister encourages GAA clubs, youth groups, and anyone who wants to develop an outdoor project to apply now.
Heather Humphreys made the call-out today as she was in Ballybay Youth Centre to open an outdoor play area followed by Rockcorry National School, who got funding to open an outdoor play and sensory area. "So, the investment I'm going to deliver here will see the renovation of community centres, parish halls, GAA clubhouses and youth facilities," Deputy Humphreys told Northern Sound, "I'm putting a big focus on outdoor projects like playgrounds, sensory gardens walking tracks, skate parks and community allotments. So really, I'd say to people get your applications in, which, are available from your local authority."
