A tree carving project in Smithboro is receiving a lot of welcome attention from visitors across the wider region.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show earlier, Karen McCaffrey from Smithboro Tidy Towns says the response has been fantastic from people right across the region. Karen said lots of visitors have been flocking to the village due to the wonderful works by the sculptures of the tree stumps.
Ahead of the judging period for the 2023 Tidy Towns Competition, the Monaghan village has had 12 tree trunks carved of animals and birds that are synonymous with the area
A committee of four people in Smithboro are behind the Tidy Towns grouping of the Monaghan Village.
Lots of work are underway in the village as the grading of the national competition of tidy towns are underway across the country through June, July and August.
Karen says momentum is building as judging season begins for this year's Tidy Towns Competition.
